Step 2. On yet another beach excursion, (what can we say, we REALLY love the beach), we stopped in to Lavender by the Bay. Fields of purple that smell like heaven? Of course we had to make a detour! Plus, we knew a touch of lavender would compliment the tartness of the berries in this pint.

Step 1. Foraging was fun — we spent sunny mornings at the market finding the freshest berries to craft our own “orchard” in this ‘scream. Then we turned those berries into a bright fruity base by macerating them.

Flavor of the Month: Flavor #112. The Orchardblackberry-raspberry lavender ice cream
The Orchard is inspired by another one of our annual beach excursions. This time to the Riviera! The Riviera of the Bronx, that is, at Orchard Beach. It gets a bad rap (the beach, not our flavor, don’t worry), but it’s a great NYC beach excursion, and rich in history to boot!
We crafted our own “orchard” in a pint - a medley of raspberry and blackberry ice cream, with a touch of lavender. This is one sweet, fresh, and luxurious pint. After all, it’s all about the lavish life in the Riviera (of the Bronx).

Step 4. What pairs perfectly with beer? A salty-sweet treat! Well, that pretty much pairs perfectly with everything. So we threw in bits of pretzels from Martin’s Pretzels and a swirl of caramel from Spoonable. Layers and layers of pretzels and caramel.

Of course we teamed up with Coney Island Brewing Co for this one! Because a visit to Coney Island is not complete without grabbing a cold one and catching a showing of Sideshows by the Seashore. (Seriously, this is such a NYC classic).
We opted to use the Mermaid Pilsner -  crisp, hoppy lager with a hint of spice and a touch of fruit and floral.
