flavor flavor of the day: Mint Julepfresh mint ice cream with a shot our bourbon
Happy Derby Day! To celebrate, we crafted up some of our Mint Julep ice cream — made with fresh spearmint and Tuthilltown’s Baby Bourbon.
To celebrate further, we catered our first (!) wedding. These MilkMade minis will be served at our member’s wedding in Philadelphia tonight. Congrats Ward & Kate!

milkmade flavor of the day: Ramps!ramps are wild leeks that are found in the northeast during a short window of spring. they taste like half-onion, half-garlic, and garner quite a frenzy when they appear at the greenmarkets this time of year. we partook in the frenzy and sweetened ‘em up to make a ramps ice cream.Ramps are back at it and so are we. This one is just such a fun unexpectedly good flavor — we released it to members May 2011, flavor #37, as a THIRD OPTION in our normal two flavor-of-the-month offering. Only like 8 people opted in. One of whom said, and we quote “That Ramps ice cream…. is insane.. I love it.” Not bad for an onion-y, garlic-y ice cream! Thanks MilkMade Member, Aaron G!

It’s the year of the snake. That means love, prosperity, and peace (or so we hope). For us, that also means the resurgence of the Snakebite Shandy. A pint half full of cider, half of lager, the Snakebite is banned in certain bars in the UK since it goes down so easily. From what we’ve heard from members, our version may well be outlawed itself.

flavor of the day: The Marzipan Pigmarzipan ice cream with chocolate truffleHappy New Year everyone!  Dunno about y’all, but we have big goals for 2013. So we’re looking for all the luck we can get. And lest we forget the Marzipan Pig, the candy pig that bestows luck and prosperity upon its recipient in the year to come. Well, we’re spreading some of that good fortune on to our MilkMade Members with our first flavor of the year, The Marzipan Pig — a marzipan pint studded with house-made Mast Brothers chocolate truffles.

flavor of the day: Monster Mashour annual pb&j with all the right fixings - marshmallows, graham, and chocolate chipsOkay so imagine you took your childhood pb&j - the kind with the saccharine grape jelly and that not-at-all-natural peanut butter (we were Jif gals, ourselves) - and you had free reign to spruce it up with whatever you could find in your pantry. Well, we’ve taken that dream and made it a reality - in ice cream form, no less. Really, one bite and I felt I was a kid again.
Our reality is a bit more refined that the dreams of our youth — in our Monster Mash, naturally sweet concord grapes replace jelly, all natural local peanut butter from Saratoga PB Co replaces Jif, and our mallows and chocolate are the creme of the craft, hailing from Baked in Red Hook and Mast Brothers in Williamsburg, respectively. Pints are being delivered to our members this week.

flavor of the day: Dirty Bananadirty banana cocktail in ice cream form. banana, rum, cream, sugar, love.Here’s how this flavor went down. We just happened to find ourselves at the magical wonderland known as Seacrets during our retreat to Ocean City, MD last weekend. And we just happened to discover the delectable drink known as the Dirty Banana. And we just happened to resolutely announce Dirty Banana as a new MilkMade flavor right then and there. And it just happened to be perfect on our first iteration upon our return to the test kitchen. So there you have it! New best.

milkmade flavor of the day: Pretzelpretzel ice cream with a peanut butter swirlInstead of just throwing pretzels in ice cream and calling it pretzel ice cream like everyone else does, we’ve created a pretzel ice cream that is actually good. Pretzel infused ice cream. It’s salty-sweet, with that distinctive pretzel dough taste, plus a smooth peanut butter swirl. And it’s delicious. 
Made with pretzels from our neighbors at Sigmund’s Pretzel Shop.
