The making of MilkMade flavor #110. Cara Cara Creamsicleorange ice on the outside, a dollop of sweet cream on the inside
Step 4. We fill the pint with the orange ‘scream, and add a dollop of vanilla right in the middle. It’s like a creamsicle in a pint. MilkMade style.

Step 3. Then we do the vanilla cream. The best vanilla comes from Madagascar but we didn’t have to do all that travelling that far for ours (We’d be flying all over the world for this pint’s flavors if we had!). Luckily, Brooklyn-based chocolate manufacturer, Madecasse, works with farmers in northern Madagascar to source the premium bean. We’ve worked with Madecasse for other MilkMade flavors like #56 Follow the Rainbow and last month’s flavor #108 Black & White Pint.

Step 2.  We juice ‘em and add them into our milk and cream. The Cara Cara’s are a brighter, deeper orange. Check out that color! But sadly our scream doesn’t turn out that bright - the color is rather lost in the blank white of the cream.

Step 1. First we start with the oranges. Cara Cara oranges are known for being sweet yet complex (kinda like us). They’re said to have notes of cherry, rose petal, and blackberry, if you can believe it.
We flew our oranges in from Pearson Ranch in Porterville, California. We don’t typically forage for our ingredients that far from NYC, but when you want the best (and we always want the best in our pints), sometimes you go the extra mile – or 3000.

We’re perhaps a little early with this flavor, since National Creamsicle Day is celebrated August 14th. But that’s ok, in the land of MilkMade it’s a celebration every day!
Flavor of the Month: Flavor #110. Cara Cara Creamsicleorange ice on the oustide, sweet cream on the inside
We’re kicking summer off early with this one. And bringing you back to the heyday of your youth, running around in the grass, chomping on a creamsicle, carefree as free can be. Orange ice on the outside, vanilla cream on the inside. We made our pints the same, with sweet Cara Cara’s from sunny California, and Madecasse vanilla sourced from family farms on Madagascar.

The making of MilkMade flavor #109. Bee Stingsalted honey ice cream with caramelized sunflower seeds
Step 5. Packing pints! Our member Angela K commented “This stuff totally rocks! I was practically drinking it from the container tonight!”
The inspiration for this flavor came from a tumblr fan of ours named Allie H from Lowell, Massachusetts. (Hi Allie! - and thanks for your idea!!)  And you can see for yourself how delicious this flavor turned out to be. So tumblr pals, keep the suggestions coming!

Step 4. April Showers… bring a May flavor full of sunflowers. For that extra “sting”, we caramelized sunflower seeds and packed them right into the pints.

Step 1. The honey! Ours honey comes from Andrew’s Local Honey - and their honey comes from the balconies, rooftops and community gardens of NYC boroughs! Hence the name “Local”!

Thank you Spring, for finally coming around. We were expecting more April showers, but we’re not complaining! We took all that sunshine and packed it in May’s pints.
Flavor of the Month: Flavor #109. Bee Stingsalted honey ice cream with caramelized sunflower seeds
Sugar, oh Honey Honey. You are my candy girl, and you got me wanting you. Word to the wise, this pint is best consumed while tuning into this classic by the Archies. We’ll get you wanting us, that’s for sure, once you take spoonful this salty-sweet, caramel-honey, sunny sunny pint. A perfect pint for a picnic in the park with your Sugar.

Let us tell ya ‘bout the birds and the bees, and the flowers and the trees. They’re all going into this month’s flavor creations. (Minus the birds, ew.) We’re got a pair of pints perfect for your next primavera picnic. First on the menu is the Bee Sting, an adaptation of a flavor suggested by a tumblr fan.
