flavor of the day: Shireshack’s Blackberry Piesugar cookie ice cream with blackberry pie and a salty pretzel crustWe have the extreme pleasure of having Reese from Shireshack Ice Cream Factory intern with us this summer.  Not only is he an amazing kitchen and office assistant, but he makes us delicious pints of ice cream too. This is our first taste of their creations - Blackberry Pie. It is definitely as good as it looks.

MILKMADE FLAVORS OF THE MONTH: JUNE 2012Just keeping you posted on what we’re sharing with our members this month.  Grady’s Manhattancold brew coffee infused manhattan cocktail ice creamCome summer in New York, coffee just won’t do anymore. It’s all about iced coffee. And after having our first cup of Grady’s Cold Brew last month, no other iced coffee would do anymore. It is all about Grady’s.THEN - we discovered the Grady’s Manhattan at a local Brooklyn bar. A Manhattan cocktail with a shot of Grady’s Cold Brew coffee. And now no other Manhattan will do! To share this with you in MilkMade style, we’ve teamed up with two amazing groups of dudes based out of Brooklyn - Grady’s Cold Brew for our coffee, and Kings County Distillery for our whiskey. We top off each pint with a brandied cherry.
Tom Collinslemon and gin Tom Collins ice cream with a raspberry garnishThe Tom Collins is my very favorite summertime drink. It’s simple, smooth, refreshing, and, best of all, accompanied by a fascinating history.  See back in 1874 there was a little hoax going around New York, and it went a little something like this - “Have you seen Tom Collins? He is talking about you in a very rough manner - calling you hard names..” People went racing about town looking for the libelous Tom Collins, who was often reported to be at the local down the street. Bartenders caught on and began serving a Tom Collins drink - gin, simple syrup, soda water, lemon. The drink became so popular that not only did it even have its own glass, it is reported to have caused a lemon shortage in in New York in summer 1936.
We’re making ours with gin from local distillers New York Distilling Co and a raspberry garnish.

milkmade flavor of the day: Grady’s Manhattancold-brew coffee spiked manhattan cocktail ice cream
Okay maybe THIS is actually the new best thing we’ve ever crafted.
Ever since we teamed up with Grady’s Cold Brew a few weeks back, we’ve pretty much given up all other forms of coffee. As long time drinkers (and home-brewers) of iced coffee, we can attest that this is best stuff around.
It also makes a mean cocktail - which you can sport at various locations in the northeast including some local faves: The Post Office, Apt 138, and Gold Coast for a Manhattan.. and, if you’re lucky, your neighborhood park for a White Russian or two.
This is a freshly churned scoop of our favorite cold-brew infused cocktail - the Grady’s Manhattan, made with the best whiskey in town from Kings County Distillery.

Is it? Could it be? It is. Skittles Ice Cream.
I adamantly argued this would be unappetizing. I was so very wrong. It is mind blowing. You can taste the rainbow in every bite.

milkmade flavor of the day: Eat Ice Cream Cake for Breakfastvanilla-berry swirl cupcake bottom, Cap’N Crunch ice cream topToday we’re having a little ice cream social over at Kate Spade. To honor their slogan, Eat Cake for Breakfast, we crafted up this little flavor. And changed it a bit to EAT ICE CREAM CAKE FOR BREAKFAST.
This is our Crunch Berry Ice Cream (remember that?), but in ice cream cupcake form. And it’s awesome.
Here’s more:

And yes, we ate one for breakfast.
